Frosted
Frosted Outline lettering is an outstanding choice for surname inscriptions. Combining a sunken outline and a frosted letter, this lettering style is ideally suited for all medium to dark colors. On smaller grained granites, this style works for all lettering. Due to the characteristics of larger grained granites, this lettering style is not recommended for inscriptions under 1 1/2″ tall. Choosing inlaid lettering or sunken lettering for individual names and inscriptions compliments this style very well.
Inlaid
Inlaid lettering provides excellent contrast on medium to darker colored granites. On black granites it allows a minimalist approach to the lettering preserving the maximum amount of polished surface as possible. It is also usable for smaller lettering inscriptions on darker, larger grained granites when a sunken panel is not desired. It is not suited for use on light colored granites.
Polished Outline
Polished Outline lettering combines a number of features to create a very distinct lettering style. The interior portion of the letter is sunken giving depth to the lettering. The raised polished portion preserves the granite’s beauty and the frosted area gives outstanding contrast. This lettering can be used for family name and individual name engraving. It gives the most contrast on medium to darker grained granites. While it can be used on lighter colored granites, there are other styles that provide better contrast.
Raised Block
Shadow Lettering incorporates a sunken outline that is also widened and dropped below the lettering base to provide the characteristic of the shadow. While it is usable on any color, it is especially suited for lighter colored and larger grained granites to provide a distinct alternative to sunken lettering in frosted panels. royalty gray and Blue Pearl are two examples of colors that benefit from this lettering style’s characteristics.

Sunken
Sunken lettering in a frosted panel is the most universal lettering technique. With it’s deeply sunken letters and contrasting frosted panel, it provides a traditional characteristic to any memorial. It works well on every color but is especially suited for lighter colored granites and for individual name lettering on larger grained granites.
